It started the way the best things in life usually do: completely by accident. After moving to Summerville from Tampa in July 2025, she knew not one soul. In September, she sat down at a Mahjong table not knowing what to expect, and by the time the last tile was drawn, she was completely hooked. There was something magical about it: the click of the tiles, the strategy, the laughter, the way a room full of strangers could suddenly feel like old friends. Mahjong wasn't just a game. It was a connection. And now? She has a whole community.

🎴 From Player to Teacher

The more she played, the more she wanted to share it. Friends asked how to play. Family wanted in on the fun. She found herself explaining rules at kitchen tables, in backyards, and at girls' nights, loving every second of it. Teaching Mahjong felt just as rewarding as playing it. Watching someone draw their first winning hand, eyes lighting up with that "I've got it!" moment? Pure joy. That's when she knew: this was more than a hobby. It was a calling.

🐾 The Name Behind the Brand

Every great business deserves a great origin story, and this one involves two very good dogs. Harley and Quinn, her beloved Shih Tzus, inspired the name. Spirited, bold, a little chaotic, and absolutely full of personality. Just like a great game of Mahjong. And of course, there's a nod to the iconic Harley Quinn of the comic world: fierce, fun, unapologetically herself. That energy felt just right for a business built on bringing people together with tiles, laughter, and a little flair.

And here's the beautiful part: it all comes full circle. Mahjong was born in ancient China, a game steeped in thousands of years of culture, strategy, and tradition. And the Shih Tzu? One of the oldest and most cherished dog breeds in the world, also originating from imperial China.
